The parts of an aircraft that can be used for recognition:
- Nose
- Landing gear
- Tail cone
- Wing
- Engine
B777
B777 major feature: flat, squared off tail cone
- Boeing 777 has six wheels per leg (main landing gear)
- typical flat, squared off tail cone
- Boeing 777-200, -200ER and 300 are not raked – normal, squared off wing tips
- The Boeing 777F, 777-200LR and 777-300ER have raked wingtips
- The Boeing 777-9 have folding wingtips
B747
B747 major feature: partial upper deck
- partial upper deck
- APU exhaust in the middle of the tail cone
- Boeing 747-400F & 747-400ERF has winglets, but a short upper deck. Of course there are no cabin windows on the lower deck and only front and rear cabin doors.
- Boeing 747-8s and 8Fs have raked wingtips like on the 767-400ER.
A320/A321
- Nose is relatively blunt
- Nose of A320 series, with cut off corner of last cockpit window and slightly tilted forward nose gear.
- The Airbus A320-200 originally came with small winglets up and down from the wingtips (wingtip fence).
- The Airbus A320-200 originally have two overwing emergency exits
- A320neo has ‘sharklets‘ as wingtip device
- A321 originally has large emergency exits, in front of and behind the wings. These are nearly as large as the normal passenger doors
- A321 originally come with small winglets up and down from the wingtips (wingtip fence)
- Shown here is an Airbus A321neo, with the standard A321 cabin door configuration, but it has ‘sharklets‘ as wingtip device
