Day 8 & Day9 : Road to be a RSO – means of access to and egress

Day 8: Keep learning everyday ; Practice makes perfect

During the period of time in Taiwan (when I was still a student), I paid a lot of effort to improve my English. Now, in 2023, I have back my hometown for 8 years, I feel that there is room for improvement (always). I have a long bucket list, and I am finishing one by one.

Today, I visited the OSHC for the course about installing anchor devices for fall protection system. What a fantastic experience! Only a screw can be taught for one day. Actually, a series of events can lead to an accident. Therefore, every small steps are essential to the reliable as well as  safety of the fall protection anchor point. I don’t really want to be a safety personnel who is only talking. In contrast, I want to be a professional who know the theory, principal and be able to demonstrate to others (from frontline staff to management members).

In this one-day course, I can have a hand-on experience and also learn new knowledge: 香港勞工處指引中所指掛人的安全繫穩點要至少達到5kN – 其實BS標準已經講緊6kN!

After this course, I know how to 種三大類 “爆炸螺絲” – 拉爆, 撞爆, 藥水 (再分混合膠及子彈膠)。As for the installing method, basically, you can say that the steps are: 鑽洞, 清洞, 確定洞深, 種螺絲, 檢測。However, there are far more knowledge need to know – from how to select the type of screw, how to determine the installing point, and how to check if it is secure… Later, if I have time, I will open a post about it.

今日（27日）上午9時許，警方接獲報案，指在港島薄扶林道109號一個港大擴建工程地盤內，一名45歲姓王男釘板工人在1.7米高的工作台拆板時，懷疑跣腳墮地，頸部受傷，有人見狀報警。男工人清醒，由救護車送往瑪麗醫院治理。案件列作工業意外有人受傷處理。

做耐左有時覺得有點矛盾，做安全不可以整死做工程的，但試問老總常說的部署溝通呢? 不是應該入場前就斬左先? 而不是說椿機入左場, 擺吾到部吊機過去 – 人籠會否比這方法安全? 光是G.D 既 Safe Access and Egress 都不理想~
