2019 Happy New Year
Today, the temperature is just around 10-1x degree Celsius. Most of the Hong Kong bundle us up with at least 2 and even more layers to keep warm. For me, the temperature is particular suitable for exercise like jogging and I did a long-run covering more than 10 km along a artificial waterway – not sure if I could describe as riverside, which led me to the main road with vehicle lane, light-rail track, bicycle path and of course the pedestrian.
After finished my last working day yesterday evening, I enter a new year as well as transitional status with no job. It was a big decision to leave and It’s not hard to stay in the job but I’m not really fond of just being a ground staff. Or I could say from day one I was still a rookie and newbie. I have determined to be a pilot – the commercial airline one.
Over the past two years, I had lot of chance and opportunities provided by that company. Also, the teammate that was nice and some of them inspired and taught me a lot that I could not learn from the textbook. Through the daily head-on practice, I hang out most of my time in the airport. We worked as a team and some of them even like my sibling – they shouted at me and guided me if I did things wrong.
Here, I need to take away for a while. I am always try to up my English game ! Just use this diary as an instance, I have just learnt / refreshed my memory about how to use the preposition after “shout” – different combination will give distinguish significance.
Remember one day, I learned how to use “pencil in” through reading a company mail.
Albeit, I did not know how to use that phrase correctly if I had not read other pages examples.
pencil (one) in
To tentatively or temporarily schedule one for an appointment (that may or may not change).
pencil (something) in
We should not be overemphasis that learn should be endless. It is the fact though! Using another scenario to explain – after I thought that I knew to how to use the phrase and wrote “We have penciled the crew escort service in 01 JAN ( Tue)” for example. However, is it really the best way to express my saying? I don’t think so. Perhaps the recipient I sent to is a Hong Kong grown people like me, he/she did not complain on my gamma or writing. I noticed something’s wrong after I read another pages and example. Despite the service we provided could be amended but what I would like to say or the best way to express could be “We have arranged the crew escort service in 01 JAN (Tue)” Simplicity, Clarity and Accuracy seems more important and practical.
Well, apart from doing exercise and learning English, I started to write some posts on my blog to help me consolidate and retrieve aviation knowledge during the revision time and on commute journey between my domicile (Home) and office (in Airport).
By taking part in daily turnaround operation as a ramp coordinator/loadcontroller, I had chances to work with various parties together to meet the inbound (arrival) flight and turn them around as outbound (departure) flight after provide different services together.
I loved my job but I love being a pilot more. It’s time to let us have a go.
