Lesson 23 – Building group consensus

Summary

Responding to and clarifying other people’s opinions in a discussion

The topic of the lesson was event planning. I could:

  • take part working in a group to plan a party for 30 people
  • learn phrases connected with ‘do’ and ‘make’
  • focus on ways to respond to people’s opinions and ask clarification
  • practise sounding positive when responding to questions.

Things may be involved in organizing a staff event:

  • make posters
  • get tables and chairs
  • get food and drink
  • have a band
  • hire a karaoke machine
  • put an advert (= advertisement) in the local paper
