Civil Aviation Safety Authority (<strong>CASA<\/strong>) and sets out its functions which are chiefly to conduct the safety regulation of (a) civil<br \/>\nair operations in Australian territory; and (b) the operation of Australian aircraft outside Australian territory.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Tier 2<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Civil Aviation Regulations 1988 (<strong>CAR<\/strong>)<br \/>\nWith the gradual expansion of the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations 1998 <strong>most CAR will be repealed<\/strong>. However, the CARs will remain for the time being until transferred<br \/>\nto the CASR or repealed.<\/p>\n<p>The Civil Aviation Safety Regulations 1998 (<strong>CASR<\/strong>)<br \/>\nThe CASR will ultimately incorporate most of the CAR. The numbering system for the CASR Parts <strong>generally follow<\/strong> the<strong> US<\/strong> Federal Aviation Regulations (<strong>FAR<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Tier 3<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Manual of Standards (<strong>MOS<\/strong>)<br \/>\nThe MOS provide the<strong> detail<\/strong> <strong>of<\/strong> any <strong>standards<\/strong> referred to in the CASR. They have in many cases been developed from the CAO. They<strong> also include conditions<\/strong> on AOC\u2019s imposed under the Act.<\/p>\n<p>Civil Aviation Orders (<strong>CAO<\/strong>)<br \/>\nThe CAO\u2019s set out the <strong>detail of<\/strong> the <strong>standards<\/strong> referred to in the CAR. <strong>Most will be repealed<\/strong> as additional standards are added to the MOS to support the CASR. Some will remain as CAO to support parts of the CAR that are not repealed or replaced by the CASR.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a
