{"id":7682,"date":"2024-03-28T22:56:48","date_gmt":"2024-03-28T14:56:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tommykwan.com\/blog\/?p=7682"},"modified":"2024-03-29T16:07:16","modified_gmt":"2024-03-29T08:07:16","slug":"whats-cavok-whats-ncd-nsc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tommykwan.com\/blog\/aviation\/whats-cavok-whats-ncd-nsc\/","title":{"rendered":"What\u2019s CAVOK , What\u2019s NCD, NSC"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Reference source:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/skybrary.aero\/articles\/weather-observations-aerodromes\">https:\/\/skybrary.aero\/articles\/weather-observations-aerodromes<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CAVOK<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The visibility, RVR, weather and cloud groups are replaced by CAVOK (Cloud And Visibility OK) when the following conditions exist <strong>simultaneously:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Prevailing visibility is 10 km or more.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No minimum visibility is reported.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/skybrary.aero\/index.php?title=Cloud&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1\">cloud<\/a>&nbsp;below 5000 ft or below the highest Minimum Sector Altitude, whichever is the greater.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No towering&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/skybrary.aero\/index.php\/Cumulus\">cumulus<\/a>&nbsp;or&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/skybrary.aero\/index.php\/Cumulonimbus_(Cb)\">cumulonimbus<\/a>&nbsp;clouds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No significant weather phenomena at or in the vicinity of the aerodrome.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If there is no cloud below 5000 ft or below the highest minimum sector altitude (whichever is greater) and there is no towering cumulus or cumulonimbus, \u2018NSC\u2019 is reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Note: If no clouds are observed, &#8220;<strong>NSC<\/strong>&#8221; (no significant cloud) is used <strong>in METAR<\/strong>. If <strong>automated reporting systems <\/strong>are used, &#8220;<strong>NCD<\/strong>&#8221; (no cloud detected) is used instead of &#8220;NSC&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u5c0f\u7e3d\u7d50\uff1a<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1.
