\u5b9a\u7fa9 – Definition of Household Hazardous Waste<\/h4>\n

Waste is classified as being hazardous when it displays one or more of the hazardous properties listed in Annex III of Commission Regulation (EU) No. 1357\/20144<\/strong> (see Table 1).<\/p>\n

Properties of hazardous waste:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Explosive : Waste that is capable, by chemical reaction, of producing gas at such a temperature and pressure and at such a speed as to cause damage to the surroundings<\/li>\n
  2. Oxidising\u00a0 :Waste that may, generally by providing oxygen, cause or contribute to the combustion of other materials<\/li>\n
  3. Flammable : Waste that is easily set on fire<\/li>\n
  4. Irritant \u2013 skin irritation and eye damage : Waste that on application can cause skin irritation or damage to the eyes<\/li>\n
  5. Specific target organ toxicity (STOT)\/aspiration toxicity : Waste that can cause specific target organ toxicity, either from a
    \nsingle or repeated exposure, or which can cause acute toxic effects following aspiration<\/li>\n
  6. Acute toxicity : Waste that can cause acute toxic effects following oral or dermal administration, or inhalation exposure<\/li>\n
  7. Carcinogenic : Waste that induces cancer or increases its incidence<\/li>\n
  8. Corrosive : Waste that on application can cause skin corrosion<\/li>\n
  9. Infectious : Waste containing viable micro-organisms or their toxins that are known or reliably believed to cause disease in humans or other living organisms<\/li>\n
  10. Toxic for reproduction : Waste that has adverse effects on sexual function and fertility in adult males and females, as well as developmental toxicity in the offspring<\/li>\n
  11. Mutagenic : Waste that may cause a mutation that is a permanent change in the amount or structure of the genetic material in a cell<\/li>\n
  12. Release of an acute toxic gas: Waste that releases acute toxic gases in contact with water or an acid<\/li>\n
  13. Sensitising : Waste that contains one or more substances known to cause sensitising effects to the skin or the respiratory organs<\/li>\n
  14. Eco-toxic : Waste that presents or may present immediate or delayed risks for one or more sectors of the environment<\/li>\n
  15. Waste capable of exhibiting a hazardous property listed above not directly displayed by the original waste<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Hazardous waste is indicated in the Waste Classification List of Waste (LoW<\/strong>) using a six-digit code<\/strong> followed by an asterisk (*).<\/p>\n
