I had time to :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>take part in a roleplay where you make arrangements with others<\/li>\n<li><strong>learn phrases<\/strong> used for making arrangements<\/li>\n<li>practise using phrases for accepting and refusing invitations<\/li>\n<li>focus on using <strong>weak forms<\/strong> and <strong>contractions (i.e short-form)<\/strong> to sound more natural<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>How do you<\/strong> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">spend your free time?<\/span><br \/>\n<strong>How often do you<\/strong> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">do the following things?<\/span><br \/>\n(Hints: Go clubbing, go to the cinema, go out for a drink, go on a date, go shopping, go to an exhibition\/exposition \u535a\u89bd\u6703\/ a carnival \u5609\u5e74\u83ef, go for a coffee, go to karaoke, go for a meal with friends, go away somewhere for the weekend etc&#8230;)<\/p>\n<p>Well, I am working <a href=\"https:\/\/hk.lifestyle.appledaily.com\/lifestyle\/columnist\/2459936\/daily\/article\/20140528\/18734405\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>in<\/strong> shift<strong>s<\/strong><\/a>, 24\/7\/365\u00a0 (24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year) &#8211;\u00a0<b>round-the-clock<\/b> &#8211;\u00a0at all weather conditions. Have to say that my <em>workplace <\/em>give people sense of\u00a0<strong>demanding<\/strong> and <b>multi-tasking challenging<\/b>, it is rewarding though. Sometimes,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>I\u00a0<strong>am<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>worn out<\/strong> <em>after work &#8211; <\/em>my bleary eyes could be the best evident. When\u00a0I have a day off or holiday, I <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">nearly always<\/span> spend my time at home. I <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">usually<\/span><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u00a0<\/span>sleep<\/strong>\u00a0a consecutive 9-10 hours <strong>till waking up naturally<\/strong>. I <strong>bring<\/strong> my <strong>parents out for meal<\/strong>\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">half the time<\/span> or <strong>go out with friends <\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/tommykwan.com\/blog\/english-learning\/lesson-8-expressing-dissatisfaction-at-work\/\" target=\"_blank\">sometimes<\/a><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/tommykwan.com\/blog\/english-learning\/lesson-8-expressing-dissatisfaction-at-work\/\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a>\u00a0&#8211; I always want to <strong>savor my time with<\/strong> them<strong>.<\/strong>\u00a0After tasting\u00a0the food, I <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">usually<\/span>\u00a0<strong>go<\/strong><b>\u00a0jogging along the riverside<\/b>\u00a0as well. Doing exercise is important &#8211; it help me to unwind, to get recharge and somehow it is good for our well-being. I <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">rarely<\/span><strong> go clubbing and cinema.<\/strong> Instead I&#8217;d love to\u00a0<strong>hang out at<\/strong> coffee shop. That&#8217;s how I spend my free time.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ok&#8230;back to the lessons&#8217; content, I have learnt how to <strong>invite others<\/strong> to do something:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>How about<\/strong> (doing sth)<strong>?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>What\u00a0about<\/strong> (doing sth)<strong>?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Would you like to<\/strong> (do sth) with me <em>on<\/em> (Mon. Tue, Wed..)\/<em>in<\/em> the (morning\/afternoon\/evening)<strong>?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Do you want to<\/strong> (go to see a movie)<strong>?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Why don&#8217;t we<\/strong>\u00a0(go for a coffee) after the lesson<strong>?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Any plan for<\/strong> tomorrow night<strong>?<\/strong> <strong>There is<\/strong> an interesting lecture&#8230;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Are you doing anything<\/strong> this evening<strong>? Like to <\/strong>have a drink\/ watch a movie<strong>?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If we<strong> accept<\/strong> the invitation, we may say:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>I&#8217;d love to.<\/strong> I have been waiting for ages<\/li>\n<li><strong>Great!<\/strong> <strong>I haven&#8217;t<\/strong> seen one <strong>for ages<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Oh! That would be nice.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Great!<\/strong> <strong>What time do you want to meet?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Please Count me In!<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>What a wonderful idea!<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Let&#8217;s do it!<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If we <strong>refuse <\/strong>to the invitation, we may say:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>It&#8217;s a shame! I have a prior engagement, I am so sorry.<\/strong> <em>[formal]<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>I&#8217;d love to, BUT &#8230;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Not<\/strong> (tomorrow\/this time),<strong> there\u2019s something I\u2019ve got to do. What a shame!<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>I think so, but &#8230;\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>I\u2019ve got<\/strong> friends <em>coming round<\/em> on Sunday<strong>, I\u2019m afraid.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>I\u2019ve got to work late today \u2013 some other time maybe.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>I&#8217;ve already got something planned<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 some other time maybe.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sorry, please count me out!<\/strong> I\u2019ve got to &#8230;<\/li>\n<li><strong>I would if I could, but I can&#8217;t.
