Date rape drug and cocaine seizures soar as Hong Kong customs officials work with international counterparts to crack down on problem<\/p>\n
A commissioner<\/strong>\u00a0(\u9577\u5b98) of the Customs and Excise Department said \u201cCustoms officers seized<\/b>\u00a0(\u641c\u7372\/\u5145\u5de5) nearly three times more date rape drugs<\/b>\u00a0(\u8ff7\u59e6\u85e5) and almost double the amount of cocaine<\/b> in Hong Kong last year\u201d<\/p>\n This compared with 124.3kg of the chemical confiscated<\/b>\u00a0(= seized) in 2017.<\/p>\n The amount of cocaine impounded<\/b>\u00a0(= seized \u6263\u67e5) also soared from 139.9kg in 2017 to 255.4kg last year.<\/p>\n Drugs were a global problem<\/b>, not one faced by Hong Kong alone. <\/b>He reiterated<\/b>\u00a0(=re-emphasise) the situation was under control and that Hong Kong was not a narcotics<\/b>\u00a0(=illegal drug) transit hub.<\/p>\n It is a transnational crime.
