It is also known as the back of the power curve, and is normally situated below the max endurance power and airspeed combination for the aircraft type. This region is always encountered during take off and landing<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When an airplane (with propeller) flies below L\/D MAX, it exhibits a characteristic called &#8220;speed instability.&#8221; Airspeed will continually decrease without appropriate pilot action. If the airplane is disturbed by turbulence and the airspeed decreases, the airspeed may continue to decrease without the pilot reducing AOA or adding power.
